The 2015 whitetail hunting season is moving along quickly as usual here in Pike County, Illinois. As we enter the peak of our season, we wanted to provide a quick update on the action so far.
The early season and pre-rut hunts through October were marked by periods of warm weather, with a few cool days. With some days into the 80’s even in late October, it made for tough whitetail hunting. But despite the conditions, we were still able to put some good deer on the ground. As is often the case, success came in bursts sometimes with several deer hitting the ground within hours of each other.
The great thing about having these farms laid out the way we do, is great versatility based on stand locations, food sources, wind conditions, weather and the wide range of factors. That is a big part of our guides’ success even during warm or variable conditions.
With cooler weather finally arriving at the end of October, things have really picked up. It’s been a busy couple of weeks and we hope to have some great updates and photos to show off from the peak rut hunts after the dust clears.
