We are counting down to the opening day of archery deer season here in Illinois, and the excitement level is high! Our guides are working hard to prepare, accommodations are being prepped, and we’re looking forward to seeing our first hunters of the year. Adding to that excitement level, are the new trail cam photos coming in from our Hadley Creek farms.
We mentioned it in a previous blog post, but the age class of bucks in the Pike County, Illinois area is the best we’ve seen in years. Over the past few weeks, we’ve continued to be impressed by the number of mature whitetails and we’ve had fun catching a few of them on camera.

In case you’re not familiar with Hadley Creek, we should point out that these are totally free-range deer. There are no high fences here. It’s truly a special opportunity to be able to hunt big, free-range bucks of this quality. Again, be sure and go see the rest of the Trail Cam Hit List here.
In addition to the outstanding age class, we’ve experienced record amounts of rainfall this year. It was an extremely wet spring and early summer. That has certainly been another contributing factor to the quality of bucks we’re seeing this year.
When you combine that healthy antler growth with a strong age class of mature bucks, we’re hopeful that it’s going to be a banner year here at Hadley Creek Outfitters!
